Four kinds of installation we do most in the Algarve
🏡
You've moved here and want proper AC for the first time
Plenty of homes in Lagos, Albufeira, Faro and Tavira were built without air conditioning, and a portable unit doesn't cope with an Algarve summer. If you've just bought or are renovating, we help you choose the right brand and size for each room (most homes need one or two split units), give you a single fixed price with everything in it, and fit it in a day, no major building work, no walls torn open. Reliable, simple-to-use brands such as Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG or Samsung.
If your apartment or villa is in Vilamoura, Albufeira or Quarteira and you live in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands or Germany, you don't need to fly over for the install. We survey the property, send you the quote and photos by email, agree everything in writing, fit it, and send you photos of the finished job. You pay by transfer and get a proper fatura (invoice) with your NIF for your records.
You run short-term rentals and need them cool before the season
If you let apartments in the Vilamoura–Quarteira–Albufeira area, hot rooms mean bad reviews. We fit reliable units in new apartments and replace tired ones across your portfolio, scheduled around your changeovers so a guest never arrives to a building site. One fatura with your NIF for the accounts, the same models across the portfolio to keep upkeep simple, and a company that actually answers the phone in August.
Your home is near the sea and cheap units keep failing
Salt air (what locals call maresia) eats ordinary outdoor units within a few years in front-line spots like Burgau, Luz, Lagos, Alvor and Albufeira. For homes close to the coast we fit marine-grade equipment with proper anti-corrosion protection that lasts far longer, and we'll tell you honestly which brands actually survive by the sea. On villas in Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo or Almancil we also hide the outdoor unit and run the pipework discreetly.
We retired to a townhouse in Lagos and got through last summer on a portable unit and fans. The bedrooms were unbearable. We'd like proper air conditioning before it gets hot again, but we honestly don't know which brand to choose or what a fair price is. Can you advise?
Sarah & Tom · 8:55pm
Happy to. For a townhouse that size, most people put a unit in the living room and one in the main bedroom. We'd recommend a reliable A++ inverter unit sized to each room, fitted in a day with no major work. You get one fixed price with the units, pipework, brackets and labour all included, and we explain everything before we start.
I have a 2-bedroom apartment in Vilamoura. I live near Utrecht and come a few weeks a year. There is no air conditioning and my family was too hot in August. I cannot be there for the work. Can you arrange the installation and send me the quote and photos by email?
Henk · 1:27pm
Yes, this is normal for us with overseas owners. We arrange access with your cleaner or manager, survey the apartment, and email you the quote with photos before anything is ordered. After the install we send photos of the finished work. You pay by transfer and get an official fatura with your NIF for your records.

I run three short-term lets around Albufeira and just bought a fourth that has no AC at all. Two of the others have tired old units I want replaced before June bookings start. Can you fit everything around my changeovers? And I need a fatura with my NIF for the accounts.
Aoife · 9:15am
That's exactly what we do for rental owners here. We fit the new apartment and replace the tired units, scheduled around your changeovers so guests never see a building site. We'd fit the same reliable model across the portfolio to keep upkeep simple, give you one fatura with your NIF, and we answer the phone in August if anything needs attention.
€1,100–1,350 + VAT per unit (portfolio rate)

Four units scheduled across two changeover weekends before June
My villa is close to the sea near Burgau. The cheap units I had before rusted out and failed within three years from the salt air. This time I do not want the cheapest. I want the right brand with proper protection so it lasts. What do you recommend for a house this close to the coast?
Klaus · 11:02am
Front-line coastal homes need marine-grade outdoor units with anti-corrosion treatment, not standard ones, that's why your old units failed early. We'd recommend a premium A++ unit with marine-grade protection, which adds a little to the cost but lasts far longer by the sea. We can also hide the outdoor unit so it isn't an eyesore.

What does it actually cost to run? Four real scenarios
Based on a 2026 standard electricity tariff and realistic Algarve usage (about 700–1,100 cooling hours a year). Real figures depend on your home, so we put the numbers in writing on the survey.
Four real scenarios across the Algarve (2026 prices)

far longer life by the coast
2026 figures: standard electricity tariff €0.1885/kWh. Efficiency depends on the unit: a modern R-32 inverter is roughly twice as efficient as a 15-year-old on/off system. Realistic Algarve usage: ~700 h/year in a lived-in home · ~1,000 h/year in a holiday home over July–August · ~1,100 h/year in a villa with a pool. Real figures depend on how close you are to the sea, insulation and how you use it, we put your numbers in writing on the survey.

We install across the whole Algarve, and the right answer is different in each spot: homes that have never had AC (Olhos de Água, Faro, Olhão, Albufeira) usually need one or two single units; holiday homes whose owners live abroad (Quarteira, Vilamoura, Cabanas de Tavira) get the whole job coordinated remotely; owners letting several apartments (Vilamoura, Quarteira, Vale do Lobo) get them all done in one changeover window; and villas near the coast (Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, Almancil, Carvoeiro, Burgau) get quiet, marine-grade units with the outdoor box hidden away. The inland west, Monchique, Aljezur and São Brás de Alportel, is covered with no extra call-out charge.
AC installation in the Algarve: common questions
Yes. We deal with you in English from the first message to the finished job: the survey, the written quote, the install and the warranty are all explained clearly, so you always know what you're paying for.
A single unit for one room starts around €1,050 + VAT, all-in (the unit, pipework, brackets, cabling and labour). A multi-split for three rooms is typically €2,400–3,000 + VAT. You get one fixed price with everything in it, no hidden "materials" bill afterwards.
Yes, this is common for us. We arrange access with your cleaner or property manager, survey the home, and email you the quote with photos before anything is ordered. After the work we send photos of the finished job. You pay by transfer and get an official fatura with your NIF.
For most homes we fit Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG or Samsung, all reliable, with parts available in Portugal for 10+ years. If you'd rather not bother with an app, we can fit models with a simple handset. We'll recommend the right one for your rooms and budget, not just the most expensive one.
For Algarve summers (35–42 °C), we usually recommend a premium inverter unit from a reliable brand: these keep cooling efficiently above 35 °C outside, and spares are always available locally. We size the unit to the room so it isn't working flat out in a heatwave.
If you're within about 1 km of the sea (Lagos, Burgau, Alvor, Albufeira, Carvoeiro, Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo), yes. Salt air corrodes a standard outdoor unit in 4–6 years. A marine-grade unit (anti-corrosion coil + stainless fixings + protective cover) adds about €80–150 and lasts far longer. It's the usual reason cheap units fail early on the coast.
A single unit is usually fitted in one day with neat trunking, no walls torn open and minimal mess. Even in an older or restored property we keep the disruption to a minimum. A multi-zone villa takes longer and we'll tell you the schedule up front.
Always an official fatura with your NIF, useful for your accounts or rental records. Warranty is 3 years on the equipment (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung) and 1 year on our labour, in writing and in English.
Yes. For owners letting several apartments around Vilamoura, Quarteira or Albufeira, we schedule the work in the gap between a check-out and the next check-in, so a guest never arrives to a building site. One fatura with your NIF, and the same model across the portfolio to keep upkeep simple.
Yes, from Sagres to Vila Real de Santo António: Faro, Albufeira, Vilamoura, Quarteira, Loulé, Tavira, Lagos, Portimão, Olhão and the inland west, with no extra call-out charge within the Algarve.
No. Some installers quietly push prices up in July and August when demand spikes; our price for the same job is the same in summer as in winter. If you can, planning the install for spring means a calmer schedule and no rush, but there's no tourist mark-up either way.
